The Markfield beam Engine and Museum is following their European Steam Weekend is now opening public tours and demonstrations of an original steam-powered Victorian sewage works pumping engine.
The Museum features a Grade 2 listed engine hall housing a restored, working Wood bros. steam-powered beam engine dating from 1888 – a masterpiece of Victorian engineering and an example of industrial heritage of social and engineering importance.
The Markfield beam Engine and Museum is a staple of industrial heritage on the outskirts of London it is opening especially for this weekend in celebration of 2018’s European Year of Cultural Heritage and will have a further celebration in September for London’s Open House event.
