Carnlough
An Inside Story

‘Shaped by Industry-Shared with Pride – audience engagement initiative at four leading industrial heritage attractions on the CCR

Shaped by Industry-Shared with Pride is an exciting new project to be launched next month by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in partnership Big Telly Theatre Company and Carrickfergus Enterprise.

Shaped by Industry-Shared with Pride will deliver bespoke audience participative performances over four sites; Carnlough Harbour, Glenarm village, Flame! Gasworks Museum and the Railway Museum, Whitehead.

The project aims to bring our industrial past to the forefront of visitors experience in a hands-on-way. Participative theatre is an exciting new trend where the audience is invited to join in on the performance and we are excited to include this in our project. With a rich industrial heritage along the Causeway Coastal Route in the Mid and East Antrim area combined with the fun of taking part in what working life was like during the 19th to mid- 20th Century it is sure to be a great experience for all involved.

The first performances are set to take place during European Heritage Open Days Weekend;  Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of September in Carnlough Harbour, with the performances intriguingly being called ‘Carnlough: The Inside Story’. The second set of performances are set to take place in Spring next year again in Carnlough Harbour joined by Glenarm Village, Flame! Gasworks Museum, Carrickfergus and Whitehead Railway Museum.

Audience participation is free and is suitable for age 8 and above.

Booking to take part in these performances is essential, for more information on performance times and booking enquiries please contact: Donald Bell, Museum Access Officer on 028 25 635021 or email: Donald.Bell@midandeastantrim.gov.uk

This project has been funded by Tourism NI; the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Department for Communities during European Year of Cultural Heritage.
