Averse to History: the story of events in Irish history through poetry and song

This presentation is a collaboration between local historian Dr David Hume, writer Davy Moore and singer Iain Irvine. It tells history through verse, with readings from poets and writers such as early Celtic saints, privateer John Paul Jones, poets John o’ the North, Alice Milligan, John MacNeill, William J. Hume, John Clifford, W. F. Marshall and others, while songs such as Battle of New Orleans, Remember the Alamo, The Muttonburn Stream will add to the evening. This is a new presentation and one which will be entertaining and engaging, ensuring that by the end you are definitely not averse to history!

This is a 2 hour presentation and will include a short interval. Places are limited and must be booked in advance by contacting Larne Museum & Arts Centre on 028 28 262443 or e-mail marian.kelso@midandeastantrim.gov.uk.
