Chester Heritage Festival
June 22 - June 30
Nine days when the city will become a stage as walks, talks, films, exhibitions, workshops and activities for young people bring Chester and its heritage to life. There will be plenty to do and lots of fun to be had.
The festival will embrace the Midsummer Watch Parades during the weekend of 23 -24 June and the start of the renowned Chester Mystery Plays, on 27 June.
With over 50 other events in the programme, we hope everyone will find something of interest as we tell the story of Chester.
Stories will unfold in the streets, the Cathedral, the Castle, Roman amphitheatre, around the city walls, at the race course, in churches and other historic buildings as well as the unique ‘Storyhouse’ theatre and arts centre.
Follow in the footsteps of the Romans, immerse yourself in medieval traditions, and experience Tudor, Victorian and 20th century Chester. Leave time to explore Chester’s architectural heritage, 2000 years of building.
Come and see how the rich tapestry of our city’s past frames its present and perhaps foretells its future.
